About the Practice
We are a busy and well-established GP practice based in Shannon, Co. Clare, seeking a motivated and compassionate General Practice Nurse (GPN) to join our friendly and supportive team for maternity leave cover starting in June 2026.
Our practice team currently includes 2 General Practitioners, 1 General Practice Nurse/Registered Midwife, and 1 Phlebotomist/Healthcare Assistant, supported by an experienced administrative team. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality patient care in a welcoming, collaborative environment.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering patient-centred care across a wide range of general practice nursing services. Previous experience in general practice and familiarity with Socrates practice management software would be an advantage; however, training can be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
· Administration of childhood, adult, and travel vaccinations
· Participation in the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Programme
· Phlebotomy and specimen collection
· Health promotion, screening, and patient education
· Wound care and basic clinical procedures
· Supporting preventative care initiatives
· Maintaining accurate clinical records using practice software
· Working collaboratively with GPs and the wider practice team
· Ensuring high standards of infection control and patient safety
Essential Requirements
· Current registration with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland)
· Relevant nursing qualifications
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
· Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
Desirable (but not essential)
· Previous experience in general practice nursing
· Experience using Socrates GP software
· Experience with vaccinations, CDM clinics, and phlebotomy
· Interest in preventative healthcare and chronic disease management

Pay: €20.97-€32.09 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
